Fabia S2000 driven by rally champion Guy Wilks to take Brazil

Skoda UK Motorsport have just announced that 29-year-old- former British Champion Guy Wilks will drive the Fabia S2000 in the two rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in Brazil and Argentina.

Finishing sixth, in the Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo season opener last-week, Wilks and his regular co-driver Phil Pugh hope to contest several IRC rallies with Skoda UK Motorsport this year in a bid for the title.


"After the encouraging start to the IRC on Rallye Monte Carlo, I'm delighted to announce that we are going to contest both rallies in Brazil and Argentina," said Skoda UK motorsport boss Robert Hazelwood, going on to say, "It's an exciting development for the brand in the UK and we're looking forward to competing in the southern hemisphere."

Having won the FIA Junior World Rally Championship in Rally Argentina in 2006, Wilks is delighted to be returning to South America, "It's fantastic news that we are going to Brazil and Argentina, because contesting all three opening rallies improves our chances of success in the IRC," Wilks commented, "I've never been to Brazil, but I'm very excited about rallying somewhere new. We'll take it as we see it and it will also be perfect preparation for Argentina.”


Skoda UK Motorsport have confirmed that Wilks is expected to test the Fabia on gravel in Europe before making the trip across the Atlantic, his only other gravel rally driving a Fabia S2000 ended in victory at last year’s Rally of Scotland, and it is hoped he will repeat this success.

Wilks loves driving the Fabia S2000, he says, “On every surface, the Fabia S2000 is fantastic. The balance of the car is excellent and the engine is very strong; it’s almost just a case of getting the damper settings right, putting on the tyres and driving it as fast as we can!”


"Rally Argentina is a great event and I'm really looking forward to going back there. You always want to do well, and that's what we're planning to do in Brazil and Argentina," says Wilks.
